What's New to the Cozy Mystery Site

May 3, 2008
I have added six new authors to the site: Jeanne Glidewell, Lee Charles Kelley, Sherry Lewis, Sheila Lowe, Sara Rosett, and Chris Well. I always like hearing about new authors so that I can add them too the site...

April 29, 2008
I have just added the Malice Domestic 2008 recipients of the Agatha Awards... which I have annotated as the 2007 awards, since they are given for mysteries that were written and published in 2007. The blog gives the details of what, when, and where... the WHO (as in authors!) is on the individual Mystery Award pages.

April 17, 2008
The newest theme to the Cozy Mystery Theme page is: Housewife Mysteries and/or Stay-at-Home Mom Mysteries.

April 15, 2007
What's new? Well, these are the New Mystery Book Releases due out in May (or in at least one case, the very, very end of April) of 2008. There's a lot of enjoyable reading in store for all of us!

April 13, 2008
This is the fifth (and final) part of this mystery theme (which can be found surrounded by other mystery themes on the Mystery Theme page of this site), and includes the authors whose last names begin with R - W, and who write historical mysteries. (I have only included the authors who are found on this Cozy Mystery Site.)

April 11, 2008
Here is the fourth part of the five-part mystery theme which covers the historical mystery series that are included on this cozy mystery site. This section includes the authors whose last names begin with M - P. If you are new to the site, there are many mystery themes on the Mystery Theme page.

April 9, 2008
I just posted the authors whose last names begin with G - L who write Period Mysteries (Historical Mysteries) on the Mystery Theme page.

April 7, 2008
The second part of the Period Mysteries by authors whose last names begin with C - F have been posted on the Cozy Mystery Theme page.

April 5, 2008
Today I am starting a new Cozy Mystery Theme: Mystery Series That Take Place In Different Periods Of Time... "Period Mysteries" or "Historical Mysteries"... Since I found that there are so many authors on the Cozy Mystery Site, I have divided the list into five parts. Today's list of the Period Mysteries will include the authors whose last names begin with A & B.

April 3, 2008
I wrote my blog today about two authors and the new series that they will both be writing. Kate Kingsbury is going to be using a new pseudonym (Rebecca Kent) when she pens her new Bellehaven House Mystery Series. The first book in the series is due out in June (High Marks for Murder).

Laura Childs will be writing the new Cackleberry Club Mystery Series. The first book in this series (Eggs in Purgatory) is due to be out this December.

March 30, 2008
I just added a new Cozy Mystery Site Theme:::: NASCAR...

March 28, 2008
The latest Cozy Mystery Theme that I have added to the site is:  Real People as Characters in Mystery Books.

March 27, 2008
I just added a new theme to the cozy mystery site: Mysteries with (Previously) Famous Fictional Characters If you can think of any other authors who I should add to the list, please let me know.

March 24, 2008
I am still working on adding new authors to the site who have been recommended by site readers. It's always nice when I find a new author of interest to me, and I hope that you all are enjoying these new recommended authors also. Today's new authors are: Jimmie Ruth Evans and Honor Hartman  (who happen to be the very same person) who, between "them" write the Bridge Club Mystery Series (which offers bridge tips) and the Trailer Park Mystery Series (which offers Kountry Kitchen recipes.)

Kathleen Bacus writes the Calamity Jayne Mystery Series which looks like a lot of fun, and the last author isn't a mystery author at all: Debbie Macomber writes the Blossom Street Knitting Series and the Angelic Intervention Series which features three angels (Shirley, Mercy, and Goodness.)

March 22, 2008
Evan Marshall's Jane Stuart & Winky Mystery Series are the most recent to get a page on the site. Marshall was recommended by a site reader for the cat theme as well as for the site in general.

March 21, 2008
I am trying to get back into adding some of the authors who site readers have recommended. I  had been working on putting pictures of the covers of authors' books on their individual pages, but found that it was simply taking too much time to make much progress on that project. (I just finished the "C" authors!)

Today I am adding an author who does not write mysteries, but who several site readers recommended as someone who might fit in well with the cozy theme of the site: Jennifer Chiaverini writes the Elm Creek Quilts Series.

Nina Wright writes the Whiskey Mattimoe Mystery Series. Whiskey is a realtor in a resort area in Michigan, and Abra is her trusty Afghan Hound sleuthing partner.

The third recommended author I added to the site today is Claire M. Johnson. Johnson writes the Mary Ryan, Pastry Chef Mystery Series... which I will soon be adding to the culinary mystery theme.

March 19, 2008
Did you know that the BBC made a delightful series of shows based on Margery Allingham's Campion? We just finished watching the last episode a few weeks ago, and I just posted a blog about it on the TV and Movie page.

March 18, 2008
The April 2008 Mystery Book Releases have been posted. One of the books is actually coming out at the very end of March... I don't know how I missed that!

March 16, 2008
Now, don't get me wrong... I know that the newest TV and Movie addition is not a mystery... but, since my family really enjoys this 1993 show, then I thought that I would write it up: The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. It happens to be a show that we watched back in the early 90s and have recently started watching it again. We really enjoy it!

March 6, 2008
Finally>>> I just finished the entry for the Q through W Senior Sleuths. (The authors last names begin with those letters, not the sleuths...)

March 4, 2008
On to the second part of the Senior Detectives Theme. This time, authors whose last names begin with G through P, who write Mystery Books with Senior Detectives... as in age, not hierarchy in their firm!

March 3, 2008
I am beginning a new theme: Senior Sleuths. There turn out to be so many of them that I am going to divide the theme alphabetically. The first part of the Senior Sleuths theme is: authors whose last names begin with A through F, who write Senior Sleuth Mystery Books.

March 2, 2008
I just added a new item on the Mystery Book Awards page... the Nero Awards. If you have time, you may want to take a look at all of the authors who have won the Nero Award... You will probably find a few who pique your interest, and a few you already have on your Favorite Mystery Authors List.

Feb. 28, 2008
Since I have had several people write and ask me for suggested authors to try once they have read all of their Agatha Christie Mysteries and are ready to move on to other cozy mystery authors, I have added I've Run Out of Agatha Christie Mysteries, What Do I Do Now? on the Cozy Mysteries by Themes page.

Feb. 24, 2008
I just comprised the March 2008 Mystery Book Releases of authors who are on the Cozy Mystery Site.

Feb 22, 2008

I have also just added two established authors:  Sarah Andrews is a professional geologist who writes the Em Hansen and the Valena Walker Mystery Series, of which both have geologist sleuths and  Meg Cabot writes the Heather Wells Mystery Series which features a former teenage idol who has changed professions and is now a private investigator.

Feb. 8, 2008
I have added four new authors to the site: Louise PennyAnthony EglinVicki Lane,  and  Brian Kavanagh......

Bookstore Mysteries are the latest additions to my Mysteries by Theme page...

Feb. 7, 2008
I have added a list of Cozy Mystery Authors who somehow include Cozy Libraries in their novels... librarians, library settings, or even library cats! These, of course, can be found on the Cozy Mysteries by Theme page of the site... My next themed cozy will probably be a list of cozy mysteries that feature book sellers, book traders, or publishers...

Feb. 6, 2007
I finally finished upgrading all of my book graphics on the main pages of the site. That was quite a job! I didn't like the way my husband had me doing it when I first started the site, so I was very pleased that he was able to show me an easier way of doing the same thing. Sometimes, he just takes it for granted that all of us can do things on the computer that match his abilities.

Also, I just added Joan Hickson's  Miss Marple shows to the TV and Movies page. Unfortunately, there were only twelve episodes... but one of them was a two-parter!

Feb. 3, 2008
I just finished my Valentine's Day Mystery Book List page... and not a minute too soon! I can't believe that we are already in the month of February!!! What happened to my resolutions for the New Year?

Jan. 28, 2008
I am working on updating my book graphics on each of the pages. It looks like it will take me a while to do, but I hope that it will add some color to each of the pages. As the tortoise would say: "slowly, but surely..."

Jan 24, 2008
I am in the process of adding some new (cozy) mystery authors. Today's authors are: D. B. BortonMargaret Coel, Denise Dietz, and Veronica Stallwood.

I have just added a new page to the site that might just make it easier for some of you who keep lists of your favorite cozy mystery authors. I now have the "New Releases" page which has the books (of authors featured on this site) that will be coming out in the very near future. I hope that this feature helps. And, if you see any mistakes or books that I have overlooked... Please drop me a line!

Jan. 22, 2008
I have a new list of books...Here are the new Cozy (and Not So Cozy) Mysteries that will be coming out during February 2008, or perhaps better described as the February 2008 Mystery Releases...

Sept. 24, 2007
I've learned from some of the site's readers that I should add Suzanne Arruda and Jess Lourey to my list of cozy mystery authors. Lourey writes the Murder by Month series, and Arruda writes the Jade del Cameron series which is set in Africa.

Sept. 20, 2007
I just finished going through each individual author to check and make sure I had all of their current books on their page. I had only missed a few, which was nice.
Also, I just posted the very last of the Edgar Awards winners and nominees for the TV Feature or Miniseries category. It was (again) fun to reminisce as I found them. You might enjoy it, too!

Sept. 8, 2007

Finally! I have added Mapp and Lucia to the TV and Movies page.

July 21, 2007
I have just added Emilie Richards to my list of authors. Richards was recommended to me by a site's viewer. When I went to Richards' site, I was pleasantly surprised to see that she not only writes a mystery series (Ministry is Murder) that looks very cozy, but she also writes a series of non-mystery fiction books for quilters. What really surprised me was that not only does she have the four quilting books in the series, but she also has published quilting books (for Leisure Arts, no less!) that actually accompany each book in the quilting series. Now, I know that this is a cozy mystery site... but I find this such a wonderful idea that I just had to write about it!

July 19, 2007
I found out rather recently that James Patterson is now writing a series for "Young Adults." I truly think it's great when "established authors" write books for younger readers. I think of years ago, when my children were younger... I think that they had to go from children's books right into adult books, since there really didn't seem to be a lot of "in between" books available to them.
Also, a visitor to the site suggested that I add Karen MacInerney, which I just did!

July 17, 2007
I just added a Agatha Christie's Marple to the TV and Movie page. Also, I just posted the Edgar awards for the best episodes of television series. Some of the winners might surprise you!

July 14, 2007
I just found two new authors who you might enjoy checking out:  Lorna Barrett and L. L. Bartlett (same person, different pen names) and Suzanne Adair. As usual, I have a little "blip" on each of them on their corresponding "A" and "B" pages...

July 11, 2007
So, who is Jesse Stone? If you are asking this question, then you will want to read the blog I posted yesterday! Author Robert B. Parker doesn't just write the popular Spenser (for Hire) series...
Also, I just added a new author to my list... Chris Forman just wrote me a comment on one of my blog entries. It was so nice to hear from you again, Chris. (His site's information can be found on my "Cozy Mystery Links" page.)

July 9, 2007
It's always nice when I get a comment from a website viewer that leads me to "discover" a new author... new, to me, that is. I just got a recommendation to take a look at Barbara Parker. I don't really know how I missed her, but after finding her website and reading through it, I have decided to add her to both my website and my list of authors to check out. Thanks, again, for telling us all about her!

July 8, 2007
I have just completed the Edgar list for the Juvenile books, and I just kept being surprised by all of the authors from my website's pages who wrote juvenile mysteries at one time or another.... Katherine Hall Page, Phyllis A. Whitney, Jane Langton, Sandra Scoppettone, Charlotte MacLeod, and Carl Hiaasen.

July 7, 2007
The Pallisers is the latest entry on my TV and Movies page. I thoroughly enjoyed this BBC series, and wasn't a bit surprised to see that it actually aired on Masterpiece Theatre... years ago.
I also just added another author to the alphabetical list... Leslie Thomas. I have yet to read any of the four Dangerous Davies novels, but, I can say that I am totally enjoying the British television series. (I will write a blog on it soon...)
Also, I just added Robert B. Parker.... the author of the Spenser: for Hire and the Jesse Stone mystery series. There are four Jesse Stone made-for-television movies, and I have written a blog about them...

July 6, 2007
I just found out that Alexander McCall Smith will be putting out a new book in the 44 Scotland Street series: The World According to Bertie. I can't wait to see just what Bertie thinks of the world!!! I love that little fellow!

July 4, 2007
For those of you who are Carolyn Haines fans, she has a new Sarah Booth Delaney book out. Also, Anne Purser has a new day-of-the-week book that I just posted.

June 30, 2007
I just finished the last of the Edgar Award Short Stories category. I was interested to see the diversity amongst the authors who either won or were nominated for their short shories. Among them were the likes of P. D. James, Ruth Rendell, Lawrence Block, Jeffery Deaver, Sue Grafton, Reginald Hill, and Simon Brett. You have to admit that the above authors are quite different in their plots and writing techniques.

June 26, 2007
I just added four new names to my authors' lists... yet only two new authors.... Jane K. Cleland and Clare Curzon, aka Marie Buchanan and Rhona Petrie.

June 24, 2007
I am almost finished with all of the Edgar awards... have yet to post all of them. I am really enjoying seeing the names crop up... it's like a Who's Who of mystery authors! I just added the complete lists of the Best First Novel and Best Paperback Original. You might be surprised to find some of your very favorite authors amongst all of the winning and nominated authors.

(So, if you're keeping a tally....... I have all of the Agathas, Anthonys, Derringers, and almost all of the Edgars. You will probably be very pleased to see a whole lot of possible books from which you can pick your next novel!)

June 19, 2007
I just finished the list of the Best Novels for the Edgar Awards for as long as they have been giving them out. (Or at least as long as I know of....) That's a whole lot of authors! If you take a few minutes to peruse the list, you will probably find at least one of your favorite mystery authors. It sure was nice for me to find several of my favorites as either nominated or winners.

June 16, 2007
Have you seen The Maigret Collection? I just wrote a little blip about it in my TV and Movies page. The collection is based on Georges Simenon's Chief Inspector Jules Maigret novels. I also just added the 2000 Winners and Nominations for the Edgar Awards.

June 14, 2007
I just added one of my favorite British comedies to my TV and Movies page... Waiting for God.

June 12, 2007
I just added I, Claudius to my TV and Movie page.

June 11, 2007
I keep forgetting to add What's New on the site!

Today I added Mary Jane Maffini. I have not read any of her books yet.... just discovered her. She looks really interesting..... and is a member of a six-author group who call themselves the Ladies' Killing Circle. They have put out several anthologies, and of course, they all have their own series. I am going to try to (eventually) add all six of them to the site.... They all look very COZY!

June 7, 2007
I completed the 2001 Edgar Allan Poe Awards. I'm not sure how many more of the years I am going to include all of the nominations, along with the winners. Probably only until (as in "including") 2000.

June 3, 2007
I just added the wonderful House of Cards Trilogy, which consists of three series: (#1) The House of Cards, (#2) To Play the King, and (#3) The Final Cut to my list of TV and Movies that might interest you.

June 2, 2007
I just finished adding two authors to my alphabetical lists of cozy mystery authors... Although only two people, there are three names: Camille MinichinoMargaret Grace, and  Mary Kruger. Kruger is the author of a very cozy knitting mystery series. Minichino and Grace (yes, one person, two names) write (or is that "writeS"?!!) a periodic table mystery series, and in 2008, the first of the Dollhouse Mystery series is set to come out.

Yay! They are finally here! The 2007 Agatha Awards have been chosen. Don't forget, even though they were given at the 2007 Malice Domestic convention this past weekend, they are for works that were published in 2006. Also, don't forget to look at ALL of the past winning and nominated authors!

May 5, 2007:
I finally got the last of the Agatha Award Best Novels list finished. I am so excited to see "new" authors I can start reading!  L. C. Hayden, Teri Holbrook, Kate Ross, Walter Satterthwait, and Pari Noskin Taichert can now be found on pages of their own...

May 3, 2007:
I just added four new authors, who I haven't read yet, and cannot believe I have missed! All four of them have several books (& short stories) between them that are on the Agatha Award lists. I am definitely going to read these authors.... You may wonder... Why doesn't she just tell us who they are?! Rochelle Krich, Sujata MasseySharan Newman, and Julia Spencer-Fleming! Most of you probably already read them. Again, I don't know how I missed them!
