OK, let me preface this entry by saying two things: I like Angie Harmon a lot AND If you are a fan of the show, please don't continue reading this entry…

OK >>> If they are making a movie about Helen of Troy… a woman who could cause a war, a woman so exquisitely beautiful that ANY man would have to do a double-take… (or, any woman, either!) >>> the producer need not use his casting agent, simply call Angie Harmon. Yes, that is how beautiful this woman is!

So, since I don't read the Tess Gerritsen mystery books that are the basis for this TNT show, I am not familiar with the facts of the books' plots. Here are some questions I have for readers of these mystery books:

Is Rizzoli (Harmon) supposed to be as beautiful as she is, or is she supposed to be more "normal" looking? I mean, she spends a lot of time talking to her best friend (Isles) about the problems with dating…

Which brings me to my next question: Is Rizzoli supposed to have problems dating when it seems like there are a whole lot of men interested in dating her? (i.e. her Catechism childhood acquaintance/ex-boss, the FBI agent, a man in the bar she flashes her badge at…)

Is Isles supposed to be a female Monk who actually is so smart that she can't talk normally with people… and always has to interject latin/medical terms when talking to non-medical professionals (or latin teachers!)?

Is Isles supposed to be a funny character, or simply tiresome?

Why are Isles and Rizzoli such good friends? They seem to have absolutely NOTHING in common… other than they both have jobs that enable them to chat at scenes of the crimes?

When Rizzoli "dresses up" for functions, is she supposed to be ill-at-ease… sort of like a tomboy in stiletto heels, or is she supposed to be the most gorgeous woman in the room?

Is Rizzoli supposed to look bad in the "normal" clothing they have her wearing? Let's face it, Angie Harmon would look great in a dirty pair of two-sizes too large high-water jeans.

Are Rizzoli and Isles crime victims a lot of the time?

Is Isles the forensic pathologist… and if so, why does she go undercover as a cocktail waitress?

¿¿¿"Frog Face"???!!!???

Is Rizzoli's new partner a computer specialist/whiz AND a detective?

Does Isles really meet her biological (big-time ciminal) father through doing an autopsy on her unbeknownst-to-her half brother?

And, my last question is not only directed to people who read the Rizzoli and Isles books… It is about hiring such wonderful, accomplished actors to play Rizzoli's parents (Lorraine Bracco and Chazz Palminteri) >>> Why are their screen times so limited?

Hmmmm… Just wonderin'…

Inspector Lewis (Kevin Whately) and Sergeant Hathaway (Laurence Fox) are back! Yes tonight, your local PBS station will be airing The Dead of Winter, the second installment of the third season of the Inspector Lewis mystery shows.

While the Inspector Morse mystery shows were based on the mystery novels by Colin Dexter, the Inspector Lewis shows are inspired by Dexter's mysteries. I have to admit that I miss Inspector Morse, but perhaps, after as many years of having Inspector Lewis as the main focus, I will miss him as much. Time will tell…

Right now, however, we are able to enjoy the same Oxford-ish atmosphere that the earlier (Morse) series provided. And, The Dead of Winter will give us a little more information about Sergeant Hathaway's past. So far we know that Hathaway is a Cambridge graduate, who started training for the priesthood…

Some of you will probably recognize Nathaniel Parker (from Elizabeth George's Inspector Lynley mystery shows) who will be guest starring… not as a Scotland Yard inspector!

OK, OK, I know it's not officially autumn yet, but I think that someone somehow got the seasons all wrong. I know that fall doesn't begin until September 22 this year, but as far as I am concerned, autumn should begin at the very beginning of September and continue until the very beginning of December. But, that's just my opinion!

I have been trying to update the Holiday Mystery Book section of the Cozy Mystery site, and I think I'm pretty much done with Halloween's list. I would, however, not be upset if some of you know of some Halloween mysteries that I have missed.

For those of you who have been with the site for a while, you probably already know that I don't only include Cozy Mystery Halloween books on this particular list. I would greatly appreciate it if, when you have the time, you would take a look at the Halloween Theme Mystery Books list and let me know of any exclusions on my part.

I try to update all of the seasonal mystery book lists each year as the different holidays approach, but some years I do the updating in a more timely fashion than other years. This year I met my goal!

Anyway… if you see any Halloween Theme Mystery Books that I am missing, please post a comment and I will try to add the book as soon as possible. Thanks!

Here's another mystery book mystery! Sara asked us to help her find the author for this mystery book series:

"I'm trying to recall the author of this series, and would appreciate help from you and your readers. IF I remember it correctly, it's a series that came out at least since 1996 (or later) in which a female who works either in anthropology or with Native American artifacts in a western U.S. state. She found clues to a hidden mine (gold or silver maybe???) and one of the books had a really old map in it that she traced. I think there were at least three books or more in the series. Any clues? Thanks. SARA"

If you think you might know who the mystery author is, please post a comment.

PS… I probably should have included the fact that Sara posted her comment on the Cozy Mystery Professions' Theme:
Mystery Books with Anthropologists and Archaelogists as Their Sleuths…

I feel like I have opened Pandora's Box! Getting back to yesterday's entry…

Same grocery store, about a month later… I usually put my groceries in the passenger's side of my car, that way I can put the garage door down and not worry about Sprite making a mad dash for it. [I guess I now put the garage door down out of habit, our (+/-) 16 year old puppy isn't dashing anywhere these days.]

I usually don't even glance at the back of the car, but because I was buying quite a few large items this particular day, I decided to put them in the back. As I approached the back of the car to open the hatch, I was absolutely floored to see that someone had apparently hit the back of my car with a trailer hitch of some type. Good grief! With the deep impressions the trailer hitch left on my bumper, I am convinced that there is no way the culprit didn't know about the damage he/she was doing as he/she apparently kept trying to back into my bumper.

Needless to say, there was no note on my windshield this time either! Good grief AGAIN!!! What ever happened to common decency?!?

Hmmm… I have to wonder if the drivers had their children in the cars as they made their quick get-aways… GREAT examples!!!

I'm going to start this out by saying that I am going to try not to heat-up over this while writing about it. I have already gotten heated, and no good came from it, so… here goes>>>

About two months ago I came out of the grocery store and noticed that my car looked a little dusty. It's gray, and I have to admit that I am not keeping it as clean as I should be keeping it. It is simply too hot to get out of the car and wash it with the little soapy-wand. Once the weather gets a little more reasonable, I'll get to it…

Anyway, the reason I noticed it was dusty is that some kind soul had wiped a four inch by three inch section of it. Wasn't that a friendly thing for a stranger to do? Yep…

Upon inspection of the 4-3 inch wiped area I saw the reason this kind person dusted my car… The person had clearly scraped my car and, feeling guilty, checked to see the damage he/she had done. Upon finding out that yes, he/she had scraped the paint off my car, he/she left.

Hmmm… Not such a kind person after all! Of course, this person felt guilty enough to check and see if he/she had done some damage, but certainly he/she had not felt guilty enough to leave a note with his/her phone number.

This brings me to something that happened about a month ago… More on that tomorrow…
