New Cozy Mystery Shows Coming Soon!

Good news, Cozy Mystery lovers! A site reader (Thank you, Alfred!) just told me about some upcoming shows on PBS… So>>> mark your calendars!

PBS is calling this the "Six by Agatha" event. It all kicks off with two new Hercule Poirot episodes (Hercule Poirot Series X) at the end of June. Of course, we wouldn't want them with any other actor than David Suchet… And, lucky for us, he will be starring in them. Both of these Agatha Christie episodes are ninety minutes long:

Sir David Attenborough: Great Nature Shows

There is a very obvious reason that this Natural Sciences academic from Cambridge is world-renowned: He is one of the world's foremost experts in his field.

Inspector Morse Shows…

The Inspector Morse (British) mystery series is based on Colin Dexter's wonderful series of books. My husband and I are both fans of Dexter's novels and the television shows. I believe I read some place that when Colin Dexter was approached to make his mystery novels into a television series, he chose John Thaw to portray the very cerebral, very cultured, Oxford-educated Inspector Morse. What perfect casting! Kevin Whately is also perfectly cast as Morse's Sergeant Lewis.

Hercule Poirot with David Suchet

All of you Hercule Poirot (Agatha Christie's Belgian private detective) fans are more than likely already aware of David Suchet's wonderful portrayal of the rather prim, always correct detective. For those of you very few people who have not yet experienced any of the Agatha Christie's Poirot delightful shows, you will be glad to know that you have many hours of entertainment to look forward to.

Heat of the Sun miniseries…

What happens if a 1930s up-and-coming Scotland Yard detective is headed for a melt down? (Think vigilante cop!) The Yard might send him to Colonial Africa… and in this case, I'm delighted that's what they did! The Heat of the Sun is a British miniseries that follows a Scotland Yard detective after he has been "banished" from Scotland Yard.

Midsomer Murders series…

I have put off writing this review because most people who visit the Cozy Mystery Site are already aware of this deliciously fun, long-running BBC mystery series: Midsomer Murders. The episodes are based on (inspired by) Caroline Graham's Inspector Barnaby Mystery Series.

The Jury Miniseries…

Why waste time on the bad when there are so many good? And, The Jury is yet another example of a British miniseries that does not disappoint.

Manor House Miniseries…

To those of you who have read some of my other TV & Movie reviews>>> you probably have guessed that It was only a matter of time before I reviewed yet another of Sir Derek Jacobi's works. Manor House is a departure of sorts, as he is the narrator, not actually one of the stars of the show. But his narration is a true joy to listen to… especially if you're one of his many fans.

Jonathan Creek Mystery Series…

If you are looking for a funny (television) mystery series… then you might enjoy the Jonathan Creek Mystery Series. The first three seasons of this series are some of the most entertaining mystery shows that my family has "accidentally" found. This entry is about just the first three seasons of the show. They were a delight to watch.

Bramwell Update…

I think that I mentioned before that we have all of the Bramwell DVDs… And, since we do, we are able to take our time watching them. I thought that I had seen the entire series when it first aired on PBS… Now that I have just finished re-watching the entire series, I find that I hadn't actually seen the last (fourth) season.
