Holiday Mystery Books

Happy Thanksgiving! (Actually, I am writing this the day before Thanksgiving… since I know I will be busy enjoying my family AND not enjoying the kitchen duties!)

Well, I am going to have to take a break from my Who Killed Father Christmas? novel (by Patricia Moyes) in order to read my Kissing Christmas Goodbye (by M. C. Beaton). I finally got my eighteenth Agatha Raisin novel, and I am so excited about reading it that I am almost giddy!

I just finished a Patricia Moyes novel from her Inspector Tibbett Mystery Series. Henry is the Chief Superintendent of Scotland Yard, and his wife, Emmy, is his sort of "side-kick" in the series. As much as I like this Moyes series, I have only read the first three books… out of the possible nineteen. I know that this may seem silly, but when I like an author a lot, I try to space his/her novels and use them as a sort of "reading treat." I already have all of the novels in the series, so it's not like I am too lazy to get them. By the looks of it, though, I have spaced them too much!

On November 18, I received this comment from Christine E. Collier, an author of cozy mysteries:

I am very happy I made your cozy Christmas mystery list. My book, Christmas at Cliffhanger Inn, is the third of a four book cozy series about four women writers who form The Writer's Club. My series definitely has a "cozy" description with a writer's theme as the background. The titles are The Writer's Club, Mystery is Our Shadow, Christmas at Cliffhanger Inn, and Something Borrowed, Something Blue. Thank you. Christine E. Collier, author

As I have mentioned a few times, I just went through every author on my cozy mystery authors lists, and tried to categorize them by their professions and/or interests. (The reason I say "tried" is that I have been corresponding with a very knowledgeable librarian… I'll call her "Janet"… since that is indeed her name… and I sent her my crafting mystery list yesterday, only to have her come up with several authors I had missed, who I actually have on my site… Shame on me!!!)

Well, it's right about the time of year when I start to try to get my holiday/seasonal mystery books accumulated… I live down here in San Antonio, Texas, and the weather just doesn't cooperate with my seasonal cravings. I know from my past living experiences, that it is indeed the beginning of autumn… with leaves changing their colors, and a little chill in the air as you go about your morning activities. Not so here! We are experiencing upper 80s to low to mid 90s…. (I know it sounds like sour grapes that I would actually be brazen enough to "complain" about what people consider glorious San Antonio weather…)

I went to my veterinarian's office the other day to pick up some antibiotics for our dog (again!), and I was a little startled to see their Halloween decorations already up on the shelves intermixed with various types of pet shampoos and flea/tick tablets. Although I really liked their new decorations, I wondered what the heck they were doing already displayed…. in August.
