So many books to read, so little time to read them! I will only be able to scratch the surface. So my list grows more and more. I am particularly fond of Texas Mysteries. One series I have started collecting and am reading is by D.R. Meredith – the Megan Clark series. I do read other / non-Texas mystery series / books as well. My resources for what I read are "Lone Star Sleuth: An Anthology of Texas Crime Fiction", my local librarian, a mystery book discussion group I belong to, friends and fellow workers who like mysteries, and recently, your blog. Thanks. I enjoy reading mysteries and writing about them on my blog.

Hi Dennis…
Glad you found the site AND thanks for letting us know about the “Lone Star Sleuth” book. It sounds like an interesting book for us Lone Star inhabitants who happen to enjoy good mysteries.

New Authors to the Cozy Mystery Site:

February 12, 2008

I'm not sure if people who read this blog are aware of when I add new Cozy Mystery Authors to the site. I get most of my additions from readers of the site… When I first started this Cozy Mystery site, I only included the authors who I had actually read. Most of them were authors who I enjoyed reading, but there were a few who I had tried and hadn't taken a liking to… I included them anyway. Just because I don't particularly like an author's style doesn't mean that the author isn't good. And, there are several very popular authors who I do not read… But, that's another subject!

Anyway, the last few authors I included to the site are:

Sarah Andrews is a professional geologist who writes the Em Hansen and the Valena Walker Mystery Series, both of which have geologist sleuths…

Sarah Atwell writes the Glassblowing Mystery Series with Em Dowell as her sleuth…

D. B. Borton writes the Cat Caliban Mystery Series that features a 60s something sleuth… (As Della Borton she writes the Movie Lovers' Mystery Series)…

Meg Cabot writes the Heather Wells Mystery Series which features a former teenage idol who has changed professions and is now a private investigator…

Margaret Coel writes the bestselling Wind River Mystery Series, set in the world of an Arapaho reservation in Wyoming…

Hannah Dennison is starting the new Vicky Hill Mystery Series which revolves around a journalist in a small town in England…

Denise Dietz  is the author of the Diet Club Mystery Series featuring a sleuth who is a group leader of a weight loss program…

Anthony Eglin writes the English Garden Mystery Series which features a professor of botany sleuth…

Melissa Glazer pens the Clay & Crime Series which has (for its sleuth) an owner of a pottery shop…

Brian Kavanagh writes the Belinda Lawrence Mystery Series which has a sleuth who leaves Australia to visit her great aunt and ends up inheriting a cottage in Bath…

Vicki Lane's Elizabeth Goodweather Mystery Series is set in North Carolina, where her sleuth owns a flower/herb farm…

Kathryn Lilley writes the Fat City Mystery Series with a main character who is a TV journalist, yet she just can't seem to win the battle with the bulge…

Cricket McRae is the author of the Homecrafting Mystery Series which has a soap maker as its sleuth…

Louise Penny's Three Pines Mystery Series is set in Quebec with a chief inspector as its main character…

Joanna Campbell Slan will be writing the new Kiki Lowenstein Scrapbooking Mystery Series

Veronica Stallwood writes the Kate Ivory Mystery Series set in Oxford, with an historical novelist as its sleuth…

Kathryn R. Wall writes the Bay Tanner Mystery Series which is set in the beautiful Hilton Head Island area…

Melinda Wells is just starting the Della Cooks Mystery Series… about a cooking sleuth…

Thanks so much for including me! My new mystery debuts September 2008 from Midnight Ink. The first book in the series is Paper, Scissors, Death. My protagonist is Kiki Lowenstein, a woman who’s only ever been good at two things in life: scrapbooking and getting pregnant. When her husband George died in suspicious circumstances, Kiki decides she’s the natural person to investigate his murder. After all, she’s a mom–and moms are invisible, right? With the help of her best friend and former cleaning lady, Mert, Kiki snoops around. The bodies mount up and suddenly Kiki is forced to face down a serial killer to save her daughter’s life and her own. The book includes recipes and scrapbooking tips. Readers who like hobbies might want to visit the blog I share with other mystery authors http://killerhobbies.blogspot.com Have a great Valentine’s Day–and buy yourself flowers. You deserve it!

I’m only too happy to include both of you!

COOL! Thankin’ you! I am reading the Melissa Glazer A MURDEROUS GLAZE now as current purse book. It’s pretty good so far. A little rough around the edges, but a good premise. Sarah Atwell looks to have a good premise for her series. Veronica Stallwell’s would fit in my current self-challenge to read mysteries/paranormal/thrillers/suspense….where the main character is an author. Vicki Lane’s is a definite look-see. I love the gardening/herbal cozies. -V-

Vickie, I sure hope that you enjoy all of those authors.  It sounds like you do a lot more reading each month than I am now doing… My car book is also my purse book… Not to worry>>> it’s an audible! (Although, I have seen people reading as they drive…. and one time I actually saw someone working on her laptop in the car next to mine, and she wasn’t the passenger!)

Vickie February 19, 2008 at 10:43 am

Purse book is a handheld for waiting in line or riding the recumbent bike or waiting for Lady K to wake from a nap in her carseat or when I get lucky to have the time for a foo-foo coffee and some reading time. My car book is an audio and then have a handheld for bedside reading. I would like to have more time to read, but life and family keep happening….it’s all good.

Vickie,
My purse and car book are the same…. I keep a little case with my earphone so that I can carry my MP3 player into the doctor’s appointment, post office, anything that requires a long line. I doubt I could have three cozies going at one time!
