I had something similar happen with one of my cats when she was about 18 or 19. The vet had said she probably should get her teeth cleaned fairly soon, but like you, itdidn't sound like a big rush or anything, so I was saving up the money to get it done. She started smacking her lips a lot (that's the best way I can explain it) and one day I found a pile of kitty vomit with a tooth in the middle of it!!
