Carrie,

Your children sound like they are just about my children's age... just old enough to be gone, but young enough to come home! (Actually, I hope that they still want to come home when they're in the 30s, 40s, 50s, and so on!)

It really is wonderful to have friends, parents, children, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters,ETC>>> Whoever we feel close to and want to be with... We are truly lucky to have people to share our lives with... and I hope that everyone out there has that same luxury in life.

My younger brother never married, but he always spends his holidays with my mother and her fiance, and I am so happy he has that family connection.

Yes it's at this time of year we realise just how good life is, and how great it is to be together as a family. But even when our children are grown up and gone away to study or work, they still look forward to coming home - my son lives at home still, which is really good as he left for uni for a few years and we really missed him, but now he's back. And my daughter is away with uni, halfway through her third year, and I know she is so looking forward to coming home - emails, texts and phone calls and letters are not the same as seeing someone's face - so this year, we will be four again and I am so grateful.

Thank you for the reminder. My five year old drives me nuts, but I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. Her take on life is always amazing and funny.
